Sapiencia – Migration to the cloud
Servinformación supports planning for infrastructure migration for the @medellin – Ciudadela Universitaria Digital project and GCP's foundational configuration, as well as workload migration tasks.
The challenge
Sapiencia had legacy infrastructure running on VMWare in a physical data center. It faces technological obsolescence and high-availability architecture issues that put operations at risk, compounded by the need for a security architecture that allows it to reliably deliver applications to users.
The solution
Sapiencia used Compute Engine to support its infrastructure, delegating processing for its various applications to this component. Its security solution combines Cloud Armor, Cloud Load Balancer, and Cloud CDN to provide DDoS protection and WAF. VPC firewall and Cloud IAP rules also complement network security across the implemented solution.
The results
By using GCP, Sapiencia has a secure, reliable platform to deliver applications to its users, while reducing infrastructure-related administrative tasks and costs so it can focus on projects that add value.
